The technology of Bullet Trains in India
There have been a few technologies tried and tested for bullet trains in different parts of the world.
In the year 1936 for the first time in Europe, a technology called “ETR200” was used in the bullet train project. It was seen as the future at that time and most of the people would have thought that it would last for a long time and set the tone for the upcoming high-speed railway. It did a fair job and the train was considered as the most comfortable and fastest in all of Europe. But unfortunately, most of the trains were destroyed during the second world war and it halted the progress
After the second world war, Japan began the work on its bullet train. The Japanese dream would finally come into life in the year 1957 when it launched the Odakyu 3000 series SE built using the Romancecar Technology.
It did a pretty good job but eventually stopped operations in the year 1991.
In 1964 Japan developed the shinkansen technology and it has changed the dynamics of the bullet trains in history. This technology is the one most of the bullet trains in the world has been built with. As Japan is the country who is looking after the multi-million projects of India it would use the same technology for Bullet trains in India.
The bullet train will have a speed of 350 km/hr according to Japan. The train is designed in such a way that it can easily touch the 300km mark and go to a maximum of 350 km/hr. This will make the 7 hours journey from Mumbai to Ahmedabad cut down to just 2 hours and 58 minutes.
The bullet train project will bring speed and employment, PM Modi said during its inauguration. The bullet train project is expected to complete by 2022 and if everything goes right and at a good pace without interruptions this looks most likely that India will see its first bullet train by 2022.
Once up and running, the maglev trains on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail network will run at average speeds of 250 km/h. The bullet trains expected to run on the route can reach high speeds of 320 km/h.
